He did some funny things with $100.00 bills, leapt the counter, &c. &c. Gilmore's Stony Lake pictures are fine. Tonight I went down to Ned's a little while - visited with her & Rose (They'd been "hoping I'd come") and then came home to a hot bath - but couldn't sleep! So I sat up till three reading Charlotte's "Barbara Dering". Sept. 27. Sunday Another cloudy morning - but the air was delicious. Couldn't resist a spin on Diana. Mary was just starting - & suggested Linden Lane - I had suggested Charlotte (the Lake!) but we "compromised" on Linden Lane which is a road with a fine loam side path - out between West Ave. (way out Lincoln Park) & Lexington Ave. It was delightful - we went via. Brown St. &c. The country was purple with asters. The path good and the air "like wine", Geo.

says. We stopped (for a few sprinkles) in a big grove of big maples - gathered asters, golden rod (& burrs) and, the sprinkle increased, till we decided to turn back & finally decided to fly - which we did - via. West & Chili Avenues & Clifton & Adams St. Oh, but it was lovely. The rain
