Had a waltz & a square dance or 2 with him & sat out one. He
also asked me again, but I was engaged)
Mr. Lee (quite "folksy" tonight - didn't dance with
him except now & then in a waltz quadrille figure)
Mr. Potter (an atrocious dancer! Had to go through
the Prairie Queen with him!) Mr. McLaughin
(a lovely waltzer & a nice partner - one dance) Mr.
Drake (the cold Mr. D.
warmed up and asked me and we had a very
pleasant dance together - also some lemonade) Mr.
Kylie (he asked me twice but I was engaged) Mr.
Miller (Mary's brother in law - a nice dancer, but kind'a funny.)
Albert Mosher (didn't meet "Albert",
but enjoyed his society at same supper table!) And Mr.
Griswold (who devoted himself to Miss French
as usual) - "26 couples" that makes - and I think they all had a
good time. I think they had 14 or 15 dances & most everyone staid
thro'. Stopped about 1:30. Edith
danced about as much as I did, & seemed to enjoy herself. She came
home with me to stay all night. Jack
Ballagh was my escort home. He had to walk ahead &
make a path, the snow was so deep but we didn't mind. Mary & Emma wore white and looked very nice. Edith had her black dress fixed up and I
wore my pretty Xmas silk waist. The music was good & the
supper sandwiches, coffee, olives & cake. It was about two
o'clock when we reached home (Mr. McL.
walked to the corner with us too) & poor Jack B. had to go 'way to the
almshouse.
