was real cute in a yellow wig as "Willie Piffkow"
"Clark" of course, was "lovely" and made eyes at
Hattie Richardson all the time he could. The ball game
was as chestnutty as ever.
Sept. 2. Wed.
A pleasant day. Stopped at Ned's
tonight and she said McSweeney had called! Miss
Emma Foote was here to supper. She is quite jolly
& funny. Afterwards we played "Historical characters"
till after had quite a jolly time. J.G.
has gone to Niagara on-the-Lake (went
yesterday). Gertrude & Mama called on me this p.m. and I made my
Ogunquit book.
Sept 3. Thurs.
I staid home this p.m. and sewed and did a lot of things. It rained.
Had a nice visit with dear Gertrude. Tonight the girls came - Charlotte, Helen, Mary, Ned &
Edith. Charlotte was delighted with my pictures - & the rest
were too. We shot for a prize. A pretty maiden hair fern- and
Charlotte got it. Mary being only 1 behind. (I gave here a
bunch of nastertiums).
Gertrude got the stick of candy, tho'
she made the only bullseye that stuck in. We had ice cream &
cake and macaroons and then I took a flashlight group in the parlor.
(Mama
lighted it). J.W. returns from
N.Y.
tonight. Ned's & Mr.
Whitcomb went thro' town west.
