number of Harper's. Edith came after dinner, just as I was starting for church, so went with me. After- wards we went to Ned's where Freddie was, had cocoa & a nice little visit and when F. had gone to her choir Ned & Edith came up home with me & spent an hour by the grate fire, talking & eating fried cakes & cheese. I read the rest of the evening. Mch. 9. Monday J.W. back from N.Y. a short stay this time. Stopped at Mary's going home tonight. She says Miss Ettes has backed out of the "party" scheme! Took some photographs & Miss Rathjen in the office today, and she took one of Mr. Gilmore at his desk by the safe in the back office. To-night I met Edith & Ned & we went up to Mae's & spent a very pleasant evening up in their room. They're been taking some good photographs with John's new camera and Mae's going to make me some prints. We ate candy and John took some flashlight pictures of us down in the library just before we went home. Had to wait for a car in the show & a nice dog followed me. Claude was in the Exchange Street car going home. Read a little. Mch. 10. Tuesday. "Shopped" today, but didn't succeed in buying much. Went down to Edith's directly after supper & had a chat in the pleasant room by the fire. Got a new waist fitted. Edith lent me Anthony Hope's "Frivolous Cupid", which I read when I got home. Mch. 11. Wednesday Looked up clippings today - tired work. A regular blizzard this p.m. & evening. Claude bought 2 more rugs at a sale. Tonight was our pedro Club windup at Mary's. I got dressed after supper & a bath and
