very anxious to meet me(!) I think he is No.3. Mr. L is now visited by his sister and is a "poor old man". Our bath was simply delightful - after we got in. The water was fine. I swam alone - with one foot. I'm all right in salt water now - but fresh! We were about the only bathers. I had a nice chat with Mrs. Perrin, whom I admire exceedingly. When we came out Mrs. R. walked to the brow of the hill with me, and I sped down and crated my wheel - with Wiltsie's help. Then I flew up-stairs and did some packing and dressed in brown and a witch-pin and got down to a most delicious supper - steamed clams - tea - fried flounder - egg salad - cream toast - milk - cake - &c. &c. I ate enormously too and afterward had a pleasant chat with Mary Field - the Wellesley girl - on the piazza. When I saw a dark figure crossing the hill I fled up stairs to don my shoes - and sure enough, when I returned Mrs. R. was ensconced - look- ing really, very charming and being so, too. Wiltsie, Alice. Miss F. and I entertained her till mail time, then she & I walked down to the P.O. Alice & W following after an interview with Mrs. Perkins about tables & Mrs. Day walked partway with us - and we "gossiped" in the post office
