I went down to the P.O with Mrs. Reading and Mr. Lowell, and when we came back we had quite a long (& proper) chat on the piazza with Wiltsie - were both invited up to the Lookout to see the moonrise, but didn't go. We 3 (Alice too) went down for "Queen Sherbet" phosphate & peanuts & came back & "treated" the crowd & talked to Miss Iles and Miss Field until the mail came. I got 3 letters from home (with one from Gertrude enclosed) and one from Edith. Alice & Wiltsie chatted on the porch most of the evening. I joined them after I had read "my library". Wiltsie promises me good fishing on "the flood" tomorrow. We haven't been once when the tide was right. July 28th Tuesday. A pleasant morning but quite a broiler as to temp- erature. Alice, Wiltsie, Gurdon & I got an early in start off fishing, but first I took Baby Janet's picture "posing" and with Miss Iles. I also took Wiltsie in a moment of industry - fixing the rods. We went up by the "Lookout" to stop for Mr. Lowell, and when we said "Ready" Mrs. R. answered "all ready". Mr. & Mrs. "Victoria" (Anthony of Providence ) were just going - their traveling carriage was at the door and luggage being packed on. Mrs. A. is really insane, it seems, and the "valet" & driver is really his keeper. Mr. A. is very nice & well informed and
