a man had stopped & invited us, we all went down to "Jacob's' Hall" to an impromptu musical performance. The men came later. They sang a number of popular songs & choruses in which we all joined "My Louisiana Love" "Girl Wanted", "Just tell them that you 'saw me" &c. &c. Miss Iles sat next me & was very entertaining. A Mr. Sumner (a handsome man) sang a song dedicated to Mrs. Perrin - and another song, playing his own accompaniaments. He had a lovely voice - the kind to sing love-songs - Miss Iles says. She thinks, as I do that Mrs. P. must have been a very beautiful girl "She uses her eyes so -" &c. She also thinks Wiltsie "the last man she should imagine Mrs. Wolfe would marry"! It had cleared off beautifully when we came out. Wiltsie weighed Mrs. Miller & me while Alice made some purchases. I weigh 130 (!) and Mrs. M. 128. Then we went to the P.O. and had a nice chat with Mr. Day there. After dinner I wrote to Mary and about 2:30 Alice, Wiltsie, Ruth(!) Miss Iles and Gurdon & I started for a ball- game on the hill, but couldn't find one. Met Hester
- with a little chicken, which Wiltsie fed with crackers. At the Lookout Mr. & Miss Lowell and Mrs. Reading & 'froze on'
