and most of the way was up hill, so we had the 4 seated "team" with
the gray horse and Miss Bradley drove. The
gentlemen accompanied us on wheels. I think I never had such a
delightful ride. In the first place
Mrs. Miller & Mrs.
Perrin were just as funny as they could be.
"Carrie"
this & "Jennie" that and such satisfaction that they were not riding. "Now
Jennie
I
should have had to walk up this hill" and "See that
Carrie
! Lovely!
Splendid! We never see those flowers when we're wheeling" &c_&c.
Then the horse went beautifully - and the drive
the road itself was beautiful - winding
among lovely rocks & hills & woods - oh, delightful. Abundant with
flowers and berries & green things & growing wilder and
wilder. Mr. P. & Mr. M. did not
pass us until we came into the Mt.
Agamenticus road. This grew rougher & hillier as we
advanced. It must have been an 8 or 9 mile drive before we reached
our stopping place. I tried to take a picture or two, but of course did
not get the prettiest, and such "snaps" are not more than
aggravations. We found the buckboard only just arrived and everyone
piling out and children
