there in time to get out to the park (on the street car) at five.
Met Claude & we started to walk
over to the balloon together - but thought it was going up & he rushed
ahead with wheel & my camera. Took it's picture & 9 others of
various park objects. It was quite thrilling to see the man go up
and come down in a para- chute, I was utterly used up & came home
& rested before supper & dressed afterward. Mary
was up to say good-bye. She & Emma go to Stony
LakeJuly Aug. 10th. Mama went over to the Station with me - Papa to the car & Claude on his wheel-
Ned, Freddie & Edith all
happened (severally) to get on the same car. Ned brought me a box of candy and wished she was going too
(to Freddie's disgust!)
Claude & Mama came in to the car with me, was introduced to
Harry Allen. Inside, Mr. Cole
(of Moore & Cole now of Trust Co.)
introduced himself to me and we had a long, late visit. He has a
married daughter - in a rejuvenated abandoned farm in
N.H- where he is going.
July 18. Sat.
It was delightful, cool moonlight night & I was very sleepy but
could only drowse a little when I at last got to bed. Saw a good
deal of the country, first & last and then when I did get asleep, the porter woke me up to get off to a 6:30
o'clock breakfast (& very good one) at
Greenfield. Mr.Cole & 4
other men ate with me - lovely chops, fried chicken &c.
Mr. C. got off at Gardner (I took
its picture)
