a little while. It was quite cool, at last. After supper I did more
anagrams & was up very late indeed.
July 13. Monday
Warm & muggy - Rained, too - I went to Hovey's this morning & discussed cameras a while.
Stopped at Gillis'
to see Ned this noon. It's her last
day there till September. Another vacation on half-pay. She came up
tonight to tell me that Prof. Rose (or rather
"Auntie" Rose) had invited
Fredericka to go with them - so she's
going - like last year, only no separate meals. They start Monday. I
walked down to Mary's with Ned for a brief call, and afterward we had
some phosphate at Curtis's. Then I came home and
wrote to Alice &c.
Gilmore sent a pint of ice cream & 3
spoons - to Mr. C., Miss
R. & me this p.m.
July. 14 Tuesday
Cool this morning. This afternoon I went shopping with Mama & then home - about used up too. Stop-
ped at Mrs. Beckwith's to have my very pretty dimity
waist fitted - Sewed some after supper & then staid up to finish
our "Dunham's Shred Cocoanut" Anagram list - 2738 words in
all (not counting plurals &c.) It looks
real nice, anyway. Now if Mama
& I only got the $500.00 prize.
Ned stopped a minute to tell me she had been
washing & ironing all day at her Aunt's. They go Thursday.
July 15th Wednesday
Another muggy day - It poured so this noon I couldn't ride home -
& at other times - but didn't seem to re- fresh things any. Had a
pleasant interview with Miner &
Fisk - who promise me a bicycle crate. Did considerable
shopping - in the rain. It cleared off cool this p.m. I stopped & got
my waist & then dressed & rode to the park - where, later, I met
Ned, Mary, Emma &
Edith & we went to the
"Refectory" to supper - a
