Staid down to French but Aroix didn't - I mean "Chat" didn't come & Ariox talked to me an hour in French, telling me about his coming to this country (in '93, I think) Studying English - his good times in Philadelphia, Going to Cuba & to Mexico, &c. &c. He has two brothers in Cuba now - 150 miles from Havana - under the French flag - but of course hasn't heard from them since the blockade. He was very nice & very interesting. Then I went to Scranton's (Dr's) & he fixed a tooth & told about his brook-trout fishing trip in the Adirondacks he's just back - & I saw "Chat" - who had a headache - & had a visit with Mrs. Bangs & then Gilmore & then Lura &c. All "visiting" today & I feel light-hearted. Frank gave me some "1st Sep. Co." rifles crossed from Camp Black & after supper I went out to the park on "Diana" with Claude.
