the prints labeled &c. and have letters from both. They were
evidently very much pleased. What a pleasure it is to do things for people
when it
does make them happy - and how hard to do for
thankless people. I met "Billy O." tonight on his way up to
Ned's (he'd just arrived) & had
a nice chat with him. Con came along
and we rode up together. He bought me the "Bat Ballads"
last night - I think they're so clever & Con's always been quoting the
Yarn of Nancy Bell -"and only the cook & me was left, and
the delicate question of which of us two goes, in the soup arose and
we argued it out as sick" - and "the
co wittled free, did the cook & me, on the crew
of the captain's gig". I went to Kate
Davis'
Pedro Party last night for Miss Lippincott of
Pittsburgh - besides her & the five Davises, were
Dr. Hoyt, Mary Farley, Lura, Edith, Ned & I. We
wore shirt waists & had flowers and so on - also ice cream, angel's
food, chocolate cake & lemonade. I enjoyed myself & Charlotte was nice to me - They expect me
to go to Europe with them next year - &
Kate will go too - July 1st or so.
We got the 11:45 car home! The Behns
came home Monday night & Theo
looks fine & brown. He was in & told me all about it. Tuesday
night I went to the park & hunted the shepherd whose picture I
took. Rode down Mt. Hope Ave. with
1897.
