brought her home last Monday (the 12th) and Thursday night she died and
Sunday Charlie Bragdon & Miss
Hotchkiss came to the funeral - at her home - and this
morning they have taken her to Dansville - Dear
suffering sweet and charming woman - how we all did love her and how
everybody
(14th)
loved her. Last Wednesday Chat &
Helen got home. They came in on
the boat with Gene Andrews and got to know
Dr. Newton &c. Gene sent
me his love & the Dickerson's - whom they saw in
N.Y. I've had letters from people I sent
letters to - Dr. Brochseeper &
Jacobson & Mr. Crabtree - &
five pages from Sweet Annie Irish Dodson!
&c.&c. The girls found their Mother very sick. She had
invited Lura & me up there to tea
but had to send word for us not to come. She has still a trained
nurse &c.&c. but is better. The day
(13th)
before the girls came home - Tuesday
our soldier boys came marching home and it was a great sight
to see them - all brown & loaded down & smiling & dirty - so
different from the pale solemn fellows who
(10th)
marched away. Last Saturday the 10th
(15th)
