the cool breath of night. Our wraps were welcome - as we passed the last orchard - full of daisy-bouquets, and when we got to the river Con had actually coaxed me to eat a vulgar "hot sausage"! We found Effie & Clark Southard on the other side & passed & repassed them as the boulevard going home. It was a beautiful ride & I enjoyed it and the starlight & the sweet air & the good fellow beside me. When we got home it was ten o'clock and "supper was served" in the kitchen June 28. Monday Business today. Decided to give up Pleasant Pt. & go to Stony Lake and have a good time! And tonight I took a little ride to the park - late - with Con and then went over the Station with Mama to see Gertrude go by on her way to California - but she wasn't there June 29. Tuesday A note today says she goes thro' Wednesday. Rain today - Mr. Gilmore is back with larger fish stories - Mrs. Jones is here (came yesterday) with tales of May Bunnell's wedding &c. &. lovely as ever. It rained - poured - tonight. I stopped at Chapin's with Con to see a very fine stained glass window (medieval) Harvey Ellis design.
