& came in for visit & we "swapped experiences" &c. He
did want to go to the bay & after awhile
started off - alone. I kept on with the pineapple & this old journal.
Monday 5/24.
Staid down to lunch & shopped today - and home tonight. Con was up.
Tuesday 5/25.
Cleared off lovely but the last thing this p.m. Mary got me to go to the "Royal
Middy" tonight - with her. The Davises
and Lura & the rest were here -
Kohule was rather funny. The rest disgusting.
Wed. 5/26.
Tonight I had a ride to the Park with Ned (who came for me) and Claude.
Thus. May 27
Pleasant & warmer - Grand bicycle parade tonight.
Con, Claude, Ned, Mary, Alice, Edith & I
went to the park & sat on benches watching the crowd - the
decorated wheels etc. etc. Con made funny
remarks, of course, called all the gray headed men "century plants".
&c We staid tell nearly dark & then rode around the circle
and out - meeting hundred & hundreds of wheels. Had to walk a little
way. The girls went down to Mary's
corner & asked us to come, but Con
& I went up & got Mama
& we stood in the park & watched the parade and the decorated
lantern-trimmed wheels. Then walked down & found the Davis's had just gone - I rode down
Adams St. & overtook & saw them on
their car. Then we walked home - Con staid
& read a love story. His "Deedie" goes to
Alaska next week & he feels quite badly. He
told me a good deal about their good times last summer and her grandmother
- and himself.
Friday. May 28.(new tire)
Rain today - I had to have a new tire on Diana
(put on Saturday) Tonight we went to Matie's &
Mr. Gilmore's Mother Goose
show at Park Avenue
1897
& came in for visit & we "swapped experiences" &c. He
did want to go to the bay & after awhile
started off - alone. I kept on with the pineapple & this old journal.
