down on the pier & watched a yacht race - in the wind - &
came back to town in time to go home & change my clothes &c &
go out to
South Park a little after four - where
the
Davises had invited me to supper.
Mr. & Mrs. D., Helen, Kate &
Miss Lippincott were there. We took a little ride
& then went to the
refectory & had phosphate &c. & to the dog pound
& saw one pretty Irish setter waiting to be rescued by his master -
also some rabbits & funny ducks &c. Frank & Charlotte
came to supper which was nice - & then we took another ride -
around the wider path - before going home. Those who rode wheels -
Helen - Kate - Miss L
- Frank & I stopped here & we had phosphate etc -
Helen staid with me. Today was
another perfect day - Helen & I
got up in time to get over to Charlotte's
shortly after 9:30 and Charlotte got breakfast & we went
down the Culver road & out thro'
Brighton & past the Country club to
"Maple Grove" - a funny place - all fir trees &
walks & rustic work & little tables &c. - Trees & groves
&c. to eat in &c. It was awfully funny but nice, & we had a
nice lunch bread & butter & Dutch cheese & milk &
berries in an outdoor dining room & then got home in the plenty of
time for dinner (I was invited to Davis, but didn't go.) - I had
