Another lovely day - JG's birthday - (49) and he went to
N.Y. with Mrs. Cutler - to the
Grant's Tomb celebration. JW
& wife are to be there too - started Thursday - all the soldier
boys go tomorrow. I bade Frank
Davis good-bye today & left him in
Austin's
buying a chicken for lunch. Stopped at the Granite Building till Edith came out tonight and went with her
to get her wheel & then we went out to the lovely park - and it
was lovely in the late - afternoon sunshine.
We sat watching the water - & land-scape half an hour were just
starting for home when Con came. He
rode back with us and after supper he went riding with Claude & then came to the house &
spent the evening - I "upholstered" &c.
Apr. 25. Sun.
A threatening sky & something of a wind this morning convinced
me there wd. be no riding.
Mama & I had a tete-e-tete breakfast
- Claude
being still in bed - & I was just settling down to write when
Con came with Ned & hauled me out for a ride. She had a big
bunch of arbutus which Con confessed
George Humphrey had sent to me! of
course I "jollied" them about it considerably! We went down & got
