1898.
village or two, & a blast furnace shooting red reflections against a cloud of white smoke, & twinkling electrics beneath. At Buffalo we saw Con again - waiting for a train with a seat in it. Frank talked about Helen
& the nurse, Miss Mackey, coming home, & we had a real good, sleepy time, arriving about 10:30 & Frank came up but wouldn't come in for pumpkin pie, because the last car went at 11:30 & he had to catch it. Showers - like April today. Sept. 26. Mon. I got caught in one coming home tonight Martha & Klemmy came up to see my pictures this evening & Con was here too & joined us at grapes. Claude got home from N.Y. & Malden with pleasant things to tell about. Went to bed late & sleepy. Sept. 27. Tues. Lovely Autumn days - JG's uncle Henry is dead. J.W. has gone to N.Y. Sept. 28 Wed. Nellie Mac was up Tues. night & today & staid down to luncheon with Helen Davis & at 5 o'clock rode up to Highland Park looked at my lovely view & walked home. Claude has been reading character by handwriting tonight - Oliver's - Crabtree's - Jacobson's - Caldwell's &c. & got them all about right so far as he knew. Oliver's was the best - Very refined - cultured - literay - kind - appreciative - not self assertive
