so I did too - & she & I had such a nice visit going down & on the "Esplanade" which was very cool & pleasant. We went on the Summerville side & saw most of the sights and sat there in front of the cottage a long long time - talking & getting cool. Then we went over & saw the cinematograph & Mr. Schmidt (Rudolph) explained it to me & showed me the films &c. Miss Perry is quite nice & I sat next to her coming home & got acquainted - Mary was very gracious. July 10. Sun. A nice (comparatively) cool morning. Very busy with things to do to finish up to go away. Claude & Con both worked on the competition - yesterday afternoon, too. They both came up to dinner & Claude went back to work. Con was going riding but it began to storm & continued all the afternoon. The most terrific & continous thunder & lightning I ever saw. It struck our chimney, knocked some bricks off & filled the kitchen with smoke - Con & I stood in the back door watching it for a long time. I was invited to Behn's to supper, but didn't go. Took a short walk - in the rain - & read & got lunch for Papa & Mama. July-11-14 Mon. Tues. Wed. Uneventful - Fine cool weather again - Busy getting ready to go away (at office & at home) and the boys working nights at the office
