before dinner & afterward spent the afternoon in my dear
window-corner - with "The Martian" while Mama & Con wrote letters down stairs. Went out doors for a
whiff after the rain & discovered a gorgeous flame-colored sunset
going on. so walked up to the bridge & viewed it and watched the
reflections on the tiny windows of the city and the "dark-brown
river" and the golden embers & glowing flames of red & blue &
coal-y clouds of the sky. I wished (?) for "George" I
told Con later, to supply words. We
(Mama, Con & I) had a cozy supper in the kitchen & I'm
afraid I talked a good deal - but I couldn't help saying things when
they were interested and laughed!
Apr. 26 Monday
Stopped in at G. & McC's
& made numerous arrangements for the "Ball" and tonight.
Met
Matie at Dake's & then Mr. Bleloch and we
went to the "Prisoner of Zenda"- sat second row in the
balcony & enjoyed it very much.
"Rudolph" was fine - Manly & big and goodlooking
& funny. The play retains the charm of the book - and you feel
the young fellow can't help being the King - under the circumstances.
The court scene & the love scenes with
Flavia & the parting are all fine. Claude
came for me & we walked home. Freddie was there.
