Cad Chapin tonight. Decided not to go to the gym. Jan. 9. Sun. A beautiful morning & I got up for 9 o'clock breakfast and after dishwashing &c. I took my big camera & went up to the park & walked around among the trees & dead leaves & snow banks & ice. I didn't find much of a picture but the river really was beautiful - all crackly blue ice & a freight engine puffing smoke 'way off beyond - came home about 12:30 & read up in my room till 2:15 when we had dinner. Con was here & we sang (?) song out of his new banjo book afterwards. All our "favorites" from the Musee! Staid home all afternoon & evening - reading. Jan. 10. Mon. Helen Davis telephoned me asking me to lunch today - so I met her at Sibley's & we had a nice long talk & a good time She thinks I'm right about the gym, but wants me to go to Europe (I want to go, too) We went & bought Charlotte a hat- pin & took it to her and went to Thompsons
about a wheel. Tonight I went down to Edith's. She sent me the plan of Ned'd house, she sent her (they're going to move in & begin house keeping Wednesday.) Then we went over to Ida's & Harry made the phonograph go for us.
