about train time (6.15) when we rode out the river road again - past
a house Will is building - to a
drugstore for "Lemon & Vichy" and to the train - about 18 miles
wheeling & my cyclometer 29 3199+ We got checked
& fixed just in time and Will
staid on till the cars moved & then bade us all affection- ate
farewell! The Rathjen party had missed the train -
but the German crowd - with beer on ice - had not. The ride home-
tho' long - was really very beautiful. First the beautiful gorge and a
glimpse of Lake Ontario shining
under the sun and the beautiful Lewiston Valley.
Then fair fields & a cool sweet breeze and lovely sunset - a
clear pinky sky & few little blue clouds - and soon after a beautiful-
almost-full moon which came up and sailed forth to make a night of
it - and such a night! We amused ourselves variously - but well -
and arrived on time, 9:40, to come up to a good lunch Mama had ready. We ate till late and then
cleared off & Con didn't go home
till after eleven - sometime. Was good & sleepy.
