Amelie Behn & a young man got on at the Forest House. The Davises made me go home to dinner with them & Helen was hostess, & afterward we had a long chat in the parlor - I told them all the funny things I could think of about Stony Lake &c. &c. Then we did up our hairs & sat on the piazza till after six, when I made Diana take me home - only stopping a minute at Lura's to speak to her & Matie. I took a bath & got dressed just in time to receive Mary & Nellie - They made a pleasant call & I fixed Ida's camera for them. Nellie & Emma & their "beaux" take it to Niagara tomorrow. I'm reading Jane Austen's "Pride & Prejudice". It's roaringly funny - without meaning to be at all - such people! After the girls went we had a nice luncheon of mushrooms which Papa had gathered fixed & Mama cooked most deliciously. Sept. 6. Monday A very pleasant day, but much warmer than yesterday. I slept rather late and loafed all the morning in my room, or in fact till two o'clock, when Edith came then I got lunch & dressed & we rode out to the park to see the Kite flying, at 4 o'clock. Frank Davis was there
