these few weeks & Martha is evidently mightily pleased. Con is still one of the problems to be solved. He "keeps me guessing", to use his own expression - but he's good fun meantime. It rained yestereday but today has been simply gorgeous. I staid downtown shopping - got a new (stunning) green silk waist and trimmings for my pretty new - greenish brown poplin dress. Lunched with Matie & discussed the wedding (now to be at home) of course. Tonight I've been finishing "The Choir Invisble". Claude & I have formed another "Literary Syndicate" with Jno. Dumont - on the Bungalow. Sept. 18. Saturday Claude invited me to ride this p.m. but I didn't. I have shopped & read ("Sense & Sensibility") and etc. all this week. Thursday I went up to supper with Matie & we went to the theatre in the evening to see "Old Innocence" which is the American version of the same play that "A Pair of Spectacles" is the English of - Claude came home with me - dear boy. I'm hunting a "Winged Victory" for Ned's wedding present. Sept. 19. Sunday Today the "Twelve Perfects" were going to have a "run" but it rained when I got up and I thought it would be a rainy day. Mama went to church and I took "the boys" (Papa's & Claude's) pictures on our vine draped front piazza. Then I went upstairs & sat in my window-corner reading, when the girls arrived (Mabel, Matie, Edith & Ned) for me to go riding!
