Spent a long hour at breakfast - discussing
Canada & things with Otho. Then he went away & Mae & I did the dishes & took a walk over to the
old Stull
Mansion for pears & grapes. It was towards one when we returned
& we only visited a little while when Mae began to get dinner - a most elaborate one -
just for her & I. We did have a
very good time together & ate so much!
Warrant Castleman (who has just had a tragedy - his
wife died in childbirth) came and I left before he did to go
pedalling home - redress - & start right on (via. street car) to keep
an appointment to Helen Davis' for
supper. Found Lura there (she's feeling
awfully about Matie - & being
slighted - & Mary
being favored, etc.etc.) They had an open fire & we ate grapes
& made toast & talked & finally had supper & then
read aloud Thackery's
came home with me.
Oct. 18 Monday
Another lovely day. Busy too. I was tired out tonight. Con spent the evening here & staid
late. Harvey Ellis was here to dinner
Sunday - & they say I missed a treat!

Lovely - warmish. Still & very hazy. "Beachlets" came up this morning &
