I worked on hassocks & things & fixed up the rooms.
Con came up & staid to dinner
& spent the afternoon. Mary came up
this morning in the new fur cape (the first time she'd worn it) It
is lovely & she looked very swell. We had a nice little visit
& she tho't the rooms looked fine. I have a new mahogany chair for
mine (with Claude - money) &
Lura gave me lovely brass
candlesticks - & other Xmas things help. Fredericka came up this pm, & staid &
hour. It was very cold. I curled up in the
corner & read all the evening.
Jan. 2. Sun.
A nice quiet day - up rather late but had several hours solid
reading. Con
came to dinner. Had been home "strum- ming" & fixing his room
all morning. He staid till late p.m., when Lura & Helen
were here. We three
girls went down to Mary's & sat
beside the grate fire till Lura went
home (to manicure Miss Hutchinson's nails) and then
we all had supper & I came home & read.
Jan. 3. MonSuch a busy day. Tonight was the first session
at the new gymnasium. We didn't do anything I met Mrs Marie
McVeaux
and two or three others who are to be in the class, and then we went
into the "stone house" and heard a little girl recite & had
"refreshments" & came home. Fine cold night.
