An eventful two weeks for this country & one of much perturbation for me - and for the girls too - Chat & Helen - for there is War now with a vengance - That Sunday - the 1st of May - Admiral (now) - Then Commodore Dewey entered Manila Bay in the Phillipines and destroyed a Spanish fleet & the fortification at Cavite and took possession - but we didn't have an
