May 25 Wed.
Walked up with Mary this noon. There was a circus procession this morning
- "Ringlings" lovely Elephants & Camels - but the former
scared a horse down in front of Sibley's & he plunged into the crowd & danced and
injured - badly - 15 people - half of them children - and a great
many more who were able to walk - or get home - Bicycles - hats &c
were smashed. Sibley's store
turned into a hospital &c, &c. Tonight I stopped for Mary and we went
to the Pedro Club at Edith's on our wheels. Didn't have an extra good time as
people were sort of poky - Mrs. Weaver got the
ring and Mary was
only 20 behind her. Riding up we passed circus wagons - chariots &c.
I forgot to say I went to Behn's to
supper, beforehand, and watched Theo's
eyes on his
Meta, when I came over found Con here to take me to the circus - but of
course I couldn't give up Pedro.

we took a little ride. She came home to supper with me, and
afterward we went down & got Alice
