or the "Kensington". The play was very picturesque & heroic - giving up lover for country & country for lover &c.&c. The scenery fine & Julia's gowns "sweet". But I choose to be the leading man. He always has the best of it some way & is bound to look handsome in uniforms & lovely high-collared coats & tight trousers & leggins & swords & piercing eyes & the pretty heroine clinging to him, I'll leave it to any man if the hasn't the best of it. Papa's gone to Buffalo today on a $1.00 excursion. Claude returned from Oswego, Con went to Geneseo & Frank Davis, Theo, Arno & many others are going to N.Y. on the Lehigh tonight for four dollars!!! Mr. Aroix stopped me on the stairs yesterday for a long conversation. He has a new black suit & red & black tie & looks fine. Oct. 9th Sun. Last Sunday (2nd) I went up to High- land Park and sat an hour or two over looking the lovely valley & reading my Kipling - dear Kipling - about the Wurra tides and so on. I walked back & got some purple asters & things and after dinner went to the Davises & sat on the back piazza with Mr. & Mrs. D. & Chat came out & then Lura & Mrs. Baker
