July 7. Thurs.
This is the hot night I started for Helen
D's but didn't go. Sat on a pew with Claude
in the side yard till Con came &
then we talked awhile & then C. & I went to Highland
Park - walking up the hills. We sat up by the reservoir
& talked & then went down to a seat overlooking the
beautiful Genesee Valley - bathed in moonlight. It was
glorious - We talked & talked. Con does me the compliment to say that he never knew girls
could have so much "sense" (&c!) as I display! He tells
Mama & Claude he likes to go off with me like this - & I'm
sure I think he's good fun. It was about 11 when
we got home & offered phosphate.
July 8. Fri.
The only way to keep comfortable today is to take continual baths -
so yesterday too - baths & "drinks" - I took appolinaris
lemonade with Gilmore & Harvey Ellis asked me to have a second with
him! Ned asked me to go down to the
lake to dinner tonight.
Edith & Mary - too - I rode home & took a bath & changed
all my clothes & got back in half in hour & we took a car
down
