July 3. Sat
Very warm. Slept most of the afternoon.
Edith's birthday. She came up to supper
spent part of the evening then went to meet Ned & Will at the
park. Cad Chapin
came up to get me to stay with her tonight as all the family were
away. So I did - went down about 9:30 - Then we went for phosphate
& sat on the steps & chatted etc.etc. & went to bed rather
late - Each had a room & slept first rate.
July 4. Sun.
It was a boiling hot morning - Had a late breakfst in a cool dining
room - off of the mahogany. I helped wipe dishes and the Cad went to church & I went home - on
Diana - and staid there - reading &
typing to keep cool inside. About five o'clock I took the car to
Davis's as a little breeze stirred.
Lura saw me passing in the car &
came up too - & Miss Perry of
Geneseo
with her - Lou Saunders was there - We tried
the front porch & the back one & all staid to supper & till
about 9.
Frank came
home with me & we opened a bottle of phosphate & sat out in
the yard awhile. Con went to 1000 Islands!
July 5. Mon.
Hotter than ever, if possible - Ned
& Edith came up in the morning
& brought me some firecrackers which we all fired off.
