were not there. Another rode down the Tonawanda
road till heat & dust & sun (now come out) &the
Power House induced us to stop & look at the 5000 horse
power dynamos &c. & the wonders of Electricity and the power of
Niagara. As we were going
away & took the base of the flag pole (
MacMommies
) with some of "our party" in the for- ground. We looked away
down the road & saw no shirtwaist - so turned back & came into
town by the loveliest river road - which runs along by the
American rapids. Will pointed out his &
Helen's future home. We went over to
Goat Island and spent the morning there -
riding up and down beautiful woody paths and roads - down to the
spring for water & a rest beside the rapids - around the edge of the
Island
(Met Harry Backus & camera) and
then to the
Horseshoe fall - where Con & I left Ned &
Will at the top & walked
down to the brink for half an hour or so of enjoyment of the glories. It
was beautiful. The Horseshoe the
most beautiful
delicate clear cool delicious green - right on the brink - There the
thunder of the fall and the spray and the mist - The whole grand gorge
below. The American fall over on the right - lit by a bright sun beam and below the
beautiful moist brown rocks - and the still more exquisite green moss -
the most velvety I ever saw. It was fine - and
just
