June 2. Wed Lovely - I got supper tonight & did the dishes - Mama was at Chapins. Claude & Con went for a ride and then Con came back to go to the Mechanics Institute with me, but Rose & Ned went here & before they left Helen & Frank Davis came & we 6 had quite a jolly time. Rose & Ned left first - & after a while Helen & Frank. Con staid till Papa & Mama came home & we had phosphate &c. He had something in his eye which I tried - and failed - to find. Harpers Brothers asked Claude to design a poster for "The Martian" - approved his sketch & gave him the commission. His idea was fine, I think. He worked all day on the poster - Harvey Ellis helping him with the execution and tonight he took it to N.Y. Con came up after supper & we were going riding but he had to go to the office for something for Claude. Then we went to the Mechanics Institute exhibition & Con was so funny. In the millinery department (all women) he said he had no more business there than a fly had in the syrup! - Which remind me, that Harvey said - when he
