Sat. May 15 A lovely day, but cool. Gilmore went to Conesus tonight for over Sunday. Freddie came in and gave me a lovely violet perfume for my birthday. I stopped at Ned's at noon & night & at Mary's after supper. She went to East Henrietta, with Edith, this p.m. (The cycle run was there.) Tonight Claude and I rode out to the park and sat on a bench to watch a most beautiful sunset and talk of Venice & Italy. Con went to the Birds & Worms to a dance. He invited me - Lovely moonlight. Sun. May 16th A perfect day - My birthday. Gilmore gave me a box of candy yesterday inscribed thus; "Some birthdays mark Time's progress year by year. But yours - it surely seems by for time queer - Are backward turned, for really I should say, You're younger, more insouchiant, every day" - "To Miss B. with compliments of Mr. G." Mama gave me a pretty figured bed spread and some towels, Papa a purse, Claude $5.00, Ned a picture "Mme Le Brun & Daughter", Kate

a lovely blue-print mounted on green velvet paper of Titian's "Flora", Gertrude a photograph of the Sistine Madonna, Edith a big green pillow (she brought it up last night) Mary a pink & green Empire one, Helen Davis a birthday cake - Angel's food - with narcissus & forget-me-nots Charlotte a lovely gold crescent pin with a pearl
