"the concert" was over, (and the poor minstrels had no dressing room to go to then) empty the big tent - take out the lights and at a signal the canvas began to come down in one mass - by magic - black figures skurrying out from under and lights gleaming away off under - neath - this the dusk - The moment it touched Earth - these black flies of men flew in little lines up the seams - to unfasten them - even before the huge cloud had settled to earth - & in less time than it takes to write it men were running to & fro folding up the big pieces of canvas & taking it - peeled off the grass - to the dark unknown. We saw Frank Davis and Harry Gould - who had been talking with a teamster of 8 horses - who told them tales of the life - circus life of course we were late home - took the 11:30 mail car down & I was tired. May 13. Thurs. Woke up to find I still survived the circus lemonade and found also a lovely day - after supper Con came up with bandaged hand - for me to go "to the park" - Of course I went. We stopped to see a bicycle race and a "spill" - Rode round the circle. Met Mary Dodds - sat on the river seat and
