Wanted me to go tonight with him but I wasn't equal to it. He & I rode
to the park tonight and let the ozone get at us on the top of the
meadow. Then scurried back in the rain - or sprinkles - again. Spent
the evening at writing, fussing & accts.
May 2. Sunday
Cloudy but nice. Didn't get up till ten. Con
came for me to go hiking before I had breakfast, but I didn't.
Before he went, Ned & Will (all dressed up!) came and we fixed
their saddles & things. I wouldn't go with them either. Finally
Con went down to see Rose, and while I was cleaning my wheel
Mary&
Warren Fisk came! They stayed some
time. Con came to dinner and we were
all going for a ride afterward, but it began to rain. I spent the day
upstairs, reading. Towards night Edith came & we walked down to Mary's - Met Con and he came too. Just before our late supper Frank &
Helen Davis came & we all sat out in the
Kitchen & ate. Con was rather
solemn and
Helen enjoying herself. I think you wd.
call her "difficult".

Pleasant. Met Ned & Will & Edith and Mary
this noon. Mary said - "Say
May - I likeMr. Hillman. I tho't I'd tell you
- I think he's fine - and he looked lovely the other night - I like him,
which I consider a great complement - from Mary.
