(at my suggestion) Mary, Nellie & Edith came up & we walked up to Highland Park (Mary with me) and spent two hours Enjoying ourselves & getting our feet damp & taking pictures & eating doughnuts & coffee in the dining room of the Refectory and being jollied by the big policeman who gave us "Texas daisies" and invited us up next May for lilacs &c.&c. Coming home Mary took my arm & we strolled very slowly - and talked - on a subject or so we have talked of a good deal lately. Con & Charlie King went to Scottsville this morning to breakfast & Con went last night, by moon- light. Meta went horseback riding. After dinner (or before) it began to pour. I curled up on the divan in front of the window & read "Cyrano de Bergerac". A tragic play - because tragically true to an extent so often. Con came up for awhile & Edith (to borrow my stenography book) Read all the evening - sleepy day.
