to the corner and found a sunny, breezy corner and got drunk on fresh air and miles of blue water and floating clouds and the roaring song of the surf and the sparkle of the sun and the colors of field & sky & water and cloud - edges and my own thoughts. The Rer Person who was with me took my picture(!) It lasted an hour & then we came home again very happy & with autumn flowers & leaves and a fresh life - giving feeling. Dinner was ready - the daintiest chicken - kind and I was ready for it! Afterward Papa & I made a flying visit on the Davis' - I read them Mabel Carter's letter & they read me Kate's & we mourned the loss of the ship Mohegan - and brave Mr. Kinley- The Chief Engineer who was in the "Mobile" and Seymour George, the actor- who walked the deck with me when we were passing that very coast - & told me all about it in June. He wanted Miss Carter to go on that very boat - which was dashed to pieces yesterday on the rocks! Capt. Griffiths - Claude's captain on the "Manitoba" went down too!!
