Sept. 24 Sat. Little new this week except that cold weather has begun and the Equinoctial has been giving it - the good old fashioned way, the last 2 or 3 days. Claude has gone to N.Y. with Mr. Higgins and Papa is still in Watertown. I've had a letter from someone nearly every day 18 pages from Maude Weirand 12 from Stanley Oliver (my hero Zealander) - a nice letter too recalling our good times together and wanting me to write and telling about everything but his health - the most important

thing - Wednesday - no - Tuesday night - Edith and Nellie & Mary & I went down to Charlotte to Elsie's but found her in bed (she expected us to supper, it seems) it was lovely down there - cool & crisp & moonlight-y and a taste of Autumn in the air and of winter in the cold - sounding breakers on the shore. We came back in one of the nice big cars. Claude & I have been reading Geo. Ade's "Pink Marsh" - very funny Negro character. I had letters from Crabtree - Dr. Jacobson ("Kind friend") & Caldwell, promising me pictures. The other day I stood by the back window looking out at the rain when someone whistled & I looked & Schumacher was waving a French book to me from Aroix's window. He walked down with me today & said he was studying it. Mama's having her black silk made over all new at Miss Colling's. Sept. 25 Sun. Today Frank Davis took me to Niagara Falls on a 50¢ excursion - the cheapest yet - Con sat & talked with me about half an hour in the station. He
