Today was fine. I stopped to see Ned at Mrs. Thomas' for half an hour tonight & found Helen Davis here when I arrived she staid to supper & I rode out to Goodman & with her. She writes says Frank writes he may not pass his physical examination & will wire us Monday if not - then we'll go! No one knows how perturbing it is not to know whether we are going or not - after all our preparations - and bread riots in Italy & things being blown up in the Meditereanean & Americans being ill-treated in France &c.&c. But all the time our French is going on beautifully and we are having nice war talks with Aroix in his native tongue - & he is anxious we should go and come back & "tell him about it"! We've been house cleaning - Have re- furnished Theo's room & changed about the parlor &c. &c. so its real pretty now - & the Behns have looked to its out-doors & the street & the new houses - & all the flags on Hubbell Park fly every pleasant day & - JG has been to N.Y. Washington & Hempstead - Gave the 1st & 8th Each S100.00 &
