mother's - so I went over to
Edith's to supper (Elsie was washing the sweet baby &
putting her to bed) and afterward went up & saw
Ned & had a nice long visit. Will &

Sunday night "to Cuba" (Hempstead
plains) they're in the 42nd.
Will returns to the Falls in the morning, to join his
company &
Ned hopes to see him go through tomorrow
night. Edith rode part way up
home with me and I stopped to tell Mary
that Nell Weir and
Ernest Ashton are engaged. Read "Rupert"

A lovely bud-bursting May day. Theo
got up at 6:30 and went to the Lake
to breakfast with his Meta. He his is
delighted with his room (which Mama
had cleaned & re-furnished this week) - & especially with
the white bed. I went to Church (late) to Plymouth
to hear the new boyish minister & saw dear
