This is really winter weather. Went to hearBurton Holmes on Japan
& was somewhat disappointed in the lecture.
Jan. 29. Sat.
Took lunch with the Vagabonds (on Claude's invitation John, Claude, Con, George, Harvey &
Mr. Bangs. H.
agreed with me about the lecture & laughed at Burton Holmes for "discovering" the
City of Constantine. Burton
Holmes
invited Claude to dinner at the
Genesee Valley Club tonight & wants him to get
up his next year's book. Jno.
Dumont he has asked to go to
Morroco with him offering to pay all his expenses -
but Jno can't leave his business.
Con was here tonight.
Jan. 30 Sun.
Nice cold day. Read by the window-seat.
Took a picture of Con & Claude as The Brutal
Brothers" playing the banjo. Went up to see Mae & Jno rather early (thereby missing four calls -
Mary, Nellie, Helen &
Lura) Jno
turned on the graphophone - told funny stories in it, etc. Edith came later & later still
Murray Daly & we had a kitchen supper &
came home by moonlight
Jan. 31. Mon.Edith & I went up and played Pedro
with Nellie & Mary tonight - 5 games! Very, very busy these days at the office - J.G. gives me very little rest.
