It played the "Handicap" (which was sung, too) & "El Capitan" and "Henrietta" - and a "Hot Time" &c.&c. very entertaining indeed. I came home about ten. The Excavations at Exchange St. bridge looked so weird & fine - gray smoke & steam with men's silouetes against it - blue rocks - red furnace doors - brown objects lying about in a pale silvery moon- light & a chug-chug - of engine. I found Con here & Claude playing all the Wonderland tunes I'd been hearing in the phonograph. Sat up too late, reading Thackery Ballads. Jan. 10 Tues. Nice day - dry & cool & comfortable walking. Stopped in Miss Stowell's studio to see Harvey's sower

picture (he showed it) & had a chat with both & made & appointment to go into the country on the next Snowy Sunday. Got an 16 page letter from Maude Weir and the "Maple leaf" pin Geo. promised.

Jan. 14 Friday Claude & I went up to Davis's tonight & had a nice visit with the girls. Coming home he urged me to go to Europe with them, and said that if necessary he'd come - over to Italy & get me. He got me quite
