calls me "chum". He's a funny man. Saw
Helen Davis a minute this noon & to-
night went home to dinner with Lura
& spent the evening helping her sew on
Matie's things and making a black silk
bag for Mama's Christmas.
Came home about 10 in a pouring rain storm.
No comfort in our cars - Exchange St. is all
torn up to the bridges - but I rode around.
Dec
Got a nice letter from Maude Weir
- with "George's love" &c. and one from Ned.
Dec. 15. Wed.
More rain. This noon I went up into Frederica's studio and lunched with her and Miss
Samson - salad (of course) hot chocolate, cold meat &
bread - pickles & mince tarts & a very bohemian cooking
outfit & "flavor". Did a little more shopping & tonight wrote
to Mrs. Graham & now I read XmasHarpers weekly.
Dec. 16. Thurs.
A nice day today. I lunched with the Vagabonds - at Con's
& Claude's invitation. We had a real
nice time. Mrs. Bangs came too. I had quite a
jolly chat with John. Began with Claude,
Con & George,
only. Mr. Bangs gave us tickets to James
Young tonight and Papa and I
went together. We sat down in "G" - next
Jno. Hilliard & his mother, and
enjoyed it very much.
Mr. Young made a handsome enough Davey Garrick.
He is young (22- H. says) & magnetic and has a
