Saw Lura a few minutes & Mary telephoned me.
Nov. 30 Tuesday
Tried sohard to go to the office, but was an hour
getting dressed & sosick & used up I knew I was going to faint
everytime & raised my head - lived on white of egg, mince, gruel &
a very little soup. Con came up in
the morning and again at noon & this evening with "Misery" his new banjo. He stroked my head
& cheered me up & brought the glass so I could see what a
"cute sick girl" I was & was generally sweet.
Claude went to Geneseo
& brought back the news that Bragdon & Hillman are to
have the new Court House. Mama was lovely and read to me & waited on me all day
& this afternoon Mrs. Davis
called & was very amusing and chatty & made time pass swiftly.
Dec. 1. Wed.
I had to be better today - the 1st of the month
- and I guess the "Nux" did it. Was busy every minute
except a chat or so with Con or Claude. Helen
Davis came to see me at the house this morning.
Con was coming up to-night, but the
Elwoods got him for a church social - much to his
chagrin (!) (It turned out to be Dr. Doty's
anniversary dinner (& "fine".). Spent the evening writing up my Canada
experiences in this old journal - such a waste of time!
Dec. 2. Thurs.
I was down in Lura's store tonight.
Talking away about things - and she made me go home to dinner with
her - so I telephoned home, and did.
Mrs. Arnold was there, too, & Miss
Hutchison (to dinner only) & we had quite a jolly time
rehearsing our
