and to think that old beast should be "Father" Hartley's "superior" (Rector & vica curate) They lit us down the hill & sang us off with "Yankee Doodle", "God save the Queen" and "Goodnight ladies" - and we were soon under the stars between the dark islands - and it was after midnight when we reached Viamede. Mr. Graham opening the door for us & Mr. D
wanting a "pipe". Aug. 1 Sun. The dear boy's 31st birthday. A beautiful calm day - Cloudy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon. We rowed over to Fairy Lake this forenoon, after I had taken a picture of our crowd "(all but Hilda & Maude) on the piazza steps Fairy Lake was a beautiful peaceful little spot on a hilltop - all white with water - lilies and still and sweet and fairy-like. We sat and talked on the big rocks besides it till time to just get house before dinner - but we were the first ones home. The Lindsays & Miss D. were at church and new arrivals - Mr. & Mrs. Burney
& Mr. Hazelkirk were out sailing - Mr. Dymond was playing hymns on the organ. The sound floated up as we dressed for dinner & after dinner I packed - mostly, and then
