and to think that old beast should be "Father"
Hartley's "superior" (Rector & vica curate)
They lit us down the hill & sang us off
with "Yankee Doodle", "God save the Queen" and

between the dark islands - and it was after midnight when we reached
Viamede. Mr.

opening the door for us & Mr. D
wanting a "pipe".
Aug. 1 Sun.
The dear boy's 31st birthday. A
beautiful calm day - Cloudy in the morning and sunny in the
afternoon. We rowed over to Fairy Lake this
forenoon, after I had taken a picture of our crowd "(all but
Hilda & Maude) on the piazza steps
Fairy Lake was a beautiful peaceful little spot on
a hilltop - all white with water - lilies and still and sweet and
fairy-like. We sat and talked on the big rocks besides it till time
to just get house before dinner - but we were the first ones home.
The Lindsays & Miss D. were at
church and new arrivals - Mr. & Mrs.
Burney
& Mr. Hazelkirk were out sailing -
Mr. Dymond was playing hymns
on the organ. The sound floated up as we dressed for dinner & after
dinner I packed - mostly, and then
