July 29. Thursday This has been a long, but a pleasant day when Jimmie called us at quarter of five it looked lowering, but did not rain. He served our breakfast to us - 6 - and a cup of a tea for " Allan"

(in bed) Miss D. got up & Mrs. Lindsay was up serving her husband, who is ill. We got waked up on the pier, where Mr. & Miss. D & Jimmy saw us off. The "Golden City" took us about six. We stopped at Julian's for a man to order some "No. 9 shoes & some Shamrock flour" and then away to the store - where Mr. Gray and "Father Hartley" got on and Hilda treated us to chocolates &c. It was a jolly trip down - by streaks. The Capt. told us how he had made up his mind to go to Alaska. Mrs. Buell got on at the Shanty & chatted with Ned & me. I took a picture of the group - in poor light and Mr. Hartley in the midst. Then I talked to him (& he to me) for some time. He got off at South Beach, at Young's Pt. I took the Captain (& tried to "Pedro", his dog) and Maude has invited Mary & me to spent Thanksgiving in Brantford and she'll have Hilda come down (Hilda was delighted with the for prospect.) At Lakefield we saw Mr. Graham, who saw about our boat (we had it on board) and we rushed to the train with the girls and
