Mr. D.

brought me letters from Papa, Mama & Fredericka. We ate supper by lamplight. Then I promenaded the piazza (carrying Irene part of the time. I made her a "picture" before supper, which she liked very much.) Hilda & Ned went for a walk. When I came in I sat by the store "mooning" in a rocking chair & listened to the Lindsay children telling stories & singing little songs with Mr. Dymond. Then I finished "The Island Voyage" and then played whist with Mary, against Maude and Edith (& beat them badly) Mr. D.
developed his 4 plates, 3 houseboats & Irene
. They were very good indeed. Ned & Hilda, meanwhile, came back scared by a man, this time, and finally everyone went to bed but Mr. & Miss D. & we six and we played Crambo & telegrams, till midnight! It still rains the same. July 28. Wed. Another long rainy day - and still our tempers stand it! We were all late to breakfast and Mr. Lindsay didn't come at all but staid in bed most of the day - except when he & "Bella" were on the piazza holding each others hands! - They are a nice couple. Mr. Dymond read aloud to us this a.m. & we whittled & read & played cards & promenaded the piazza & took a walk to the dock and this afternoon all wrote poetry! Ned & Mr. D.
went for the mail and we had a nice visit this evening till after ten. Start early tomorrow. The 3 boys called late this p.m. More confessions from Maude.
