South Back Hotel. It turned out he was in John Hare's company in London 2 years - playing "Toby" in "Money" and "Capt. Dazzle" (?) in "Mrs. ?" He was chummy with an American Actress, Elizabeth Robbins - & is of the Beerbohm Tree school

, He was most modest & most entertaining. Knows Kipling well & has traveled with Boothby ("The white Devil" man) Thro' India & the deserts of Australia &c.&c. Mary got quite excited about him & scolded me for "monopolizing" him - which I hadn't the slightest intention of doing. All the way up we sang & sang - from "Yankee Doodle" "America" & "God Save the Queen" at Youngs Point to jollying islanders & singing songs appropriate to the name of the landing - at each stop! and up & up, we came. At the store the boys got on for a chat. Gray just back from Blue Mountain, Mr Dymond
talked to me, up in the bow about the memories of life, etc. and Mary fondled me & was nice to me & Hilda wants me to go to church with her in the morning &c. There were chinese lanterns & fireworks & so on & finally - after 11:30 we reached "Viamede" & found some new lamp posts & the remains of illuminations & a bonfire! July 25 Sunday Maude knocked on my door in the early morning and I got up & stole out with her and Hilda, to the dock, where Mr. Dymond
joined us and we rowed away in the gray light to "The Headlands,"
Hilda & I rowing. Arrived there (after a half hour's row)
