remembered me cordially & invited us in and talked to us - etc.
As we were coming away we met Mr.
Dymond
& Dr. Lindsay, with the
coffee pot - coming for water to make the coffee. By the time we got back
to the big rocks it was pouring. The girls &
Miss D. & I sat cuddled together with umbrellas,
reading, while Dr. Pond & Mrs.
Lindsay & Bob
made two big fires. Then we came up under the pines and set beside
them and read - gypsey fashion - till the men came (soaking) with
the fragrant coffee-pot - and it was good! So were the sandwiches and
all the rest & we had a very jolly picnic dinner - in spite of
the rain (which had almost stopped) The afternoon was spent in
fishing & drying off beside the fire - smoking (the men) reading &
jollying one another. Mr. D.
got
the "Lorna" down the Rapids, while we went to the rocks below the
bridge & watched him come down. Dr. L
sat beside me and talked & smoked and I took pictures of
Ned &
Hilda - picturesque opposites. We all waited a long while
upon the bridge for Mr. Dymond
to
get back up the Rapids - as he had great difficulty. It was about 20
minutes of five when we started for home. in a cleared-up time - And
before we
